Ellen has been working in elementary education for the past eight years. She has just finished
her fifth year teaching 3rd Grade at Meadowfield Elementary School. Reading instruction is a
passion for Ellen, and she has pursued training in several avenues of systematic reading
instruction, including Orton Gillingham methods. Ellen also loves working with students to
develop meaning in their reading by focusing on comprehension strategies, vocabulary
acquisition, word building, and writing about reading.
Ellen enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Tom, and their three children—watching
baseball games, golf matches, and theater productions all make for a fun and busy family life.
The family also has two beloved dogs at home—Grover and Trinity—who keep everyone on
their toes.
